Apparently, this Boxer goes through this routine every morning. That's one way to wake yourself up!
Did you know that the Chinese Evergreen, Aglaonema Modestum, may be poisonous to your pets if ingested? In fact, this decorative plant is toxic to dogs, cats, and horses.
If your pet ingests this plant, get medical attention immediately. Clinical signs of toxicity may include the following: oral irritation, intense burning and irritation of the mouth tongue and lips, excessive drooling, vomiting, and difficulty swallowing.

Have you ever thought that a pig could run a cleaner campaign than today's politicians? Apparently, so did one trial lawyer in Flint, Michigan.
Trial attorney, Michael Ewing, decided to run his pet pig, Giggles, for mayor of Flint after the city clerk made an error. The city clerk gave the candidates the wrong campaign filing date. This meant that the election would be write-in only. Because Mr. Ewing believed a pig would make a better candidate than the primary two would-be candidates, and because the election was write-in only, Mr. Ewing decided to start the campaign for Giggles the Pig.
The two would-be candidates were both convicted felons. Conversely, the nine-month old Giggles had a clean record. Additionally, it turns out that there was no Michigan law that precluded a pig from running for mayor, according to Mr. Ewing. Mr. Ewing believes that this was an oversight as the state legislature probably never imagined that someone would run a pig for mayor. After the attention that Giggles' campaign received, Mr. Ewing believes there will soon be a new law on the books against a pig mayor - perhaps more accurately, a law that requires a mayor be human.
Unfortunately, Giggles' campaign came to an end yesterday. The Governor of Michigan allowed the candidates to file their campaigns after the deadline. This late filing will mean that the election is not write-in only. With the end of the write-in only election, Giggles' conceded the race to the other candidates.
Hurricane season is closing in. You probably know that preparation is key. The radio and the news will inform you how to prepare for yourself, but what about your pet?
Many people do not think about what they would do with their pet if they needed to evacuate for a hurricane. Many people scramble to prepare and figure out a plan at the last minute. If you really care about your pet, early preparation is the most important factor.
First, make sure that your pet has a microchip. In a storm, you may get separated from your pet, or your pet could run away in fright. A microchip will help you become reunited if you become separated from your pet. Do not forget to update the address and contact information with the microchip company.
Second, make sure that you have an emergency kit for your pet. This kit should include a basic first aid kit, a large supply of bottled water, food and medication, food or water dishes (preferably collapsable), leashes and harnesses, litter and garbage bags, copies of your pet's medical records, pictures of your pet in case you get separated, and a carrier that gives your pet some space. If you have a bird, make sure to pack a spray bottle for its wings. If your pet is a reptile, bring a bowl for it to soak in. If you have a hamster or similar animal, make sure that you bring ample bedding.
Finally, you need to know the evacuation routes and animal friendly shelters. You can find this information online. For example, you can find the evacuation routes and pet friendly animal shelters for Pinellas County here.
